“I've been going to OPEX gym since August 2026. I joined with the goal of getting stronger and losing fat and I cant recommend Milo, Danny and Amy enough. It truly is like having a PT with you at all times. No question is too much and they are very knowledgeable. I was a bit cautious of joining a gym with an intent to lose fat as I was concerned about being made to restrict my food intake drastically, work out too much and overall damage my relationship with food. Instead what I got what a tailored programme to fit my lifestyle with small changes that were doable and easy to follow, and no pressure to drop the pounds or too much focus on what the scale says. There is a lot more focus on the long term trend and how i feel in my body. I also really appreciate the holistic take on health, consideration for not just calories in and out but also sleep, stress and other health conditions I have. Alongside this I also get a training plan that is helping me lift heavier than ever and with enough variety that I don't feel bored.

Milo has also been really flexible allowing me to train at times when they gym was closed so I could fit my sessions. Finally everyone is just really really lovely! both the coaches and other members are all friendly and I love that I know when I get to the gym I will have access to the kit I need when I need it and I will have a laugh while Im there too! Thanks Milo, Danny and Amy xx” - Joana Águia

Start With a Conversation, Not Guesswork

Reading advice can help, but knowing exactly what applies to you is what makes the difference.

Below you will find answers to the questions we are asked most often by people training in Bristol. Each page focuses on a specific topic, so you can go straight to what is relevant to you.

Why This Page Exists

There is no shortage of fitness advice online. The problem is that most of it is either too general, too extreme, or not designed for real life.

At OPEX Bristol, coaching starts with the individual. Your lifestyle, your experience level, and your goals all matter. This page reflects that same thinking.

Instead of broad advice, we focus on:

  • What works consistently over time

  • How to train safely and build confidence

  • How to avoid wasting time on ineffective approaches

If you want to see how that translates into coaching, you can explore our personal training services in Bristol.
